Governor\, we’ll welcome to the stage Secreta ries Tesler\, Acosta\, Kennealy and Card to talk about the potential avail able funding in each of their fields\, and how communities can work with t he Commonwealth to make the most of this funding\, followed by a brief aud ience Q&A.
\nAfternoon workshops led by senior administration offici als and local leaders from across the Commonwealth provide the chance\, am ong other things\, to dive deeper into these funding opportunities\, think through the challenges facing your community\, and hear from other commun ities looking to work through those same challenges.
\nFinally\, you ’ll hear from former Baker Chief of Staff and Harvard Taubman Center Senio r Fellow Steve Kadish about some of the most promising strategies for work ing with community members and stakeholders to make the local change that our communities need.

\nMAPC is releasing new research that analyzed 27\,000 flood claims from the historic March 2010 storms that dr opped 18 inches of rain across Eastern Massachusetts. $59m in disaster ass istance was paid out. We found that only 4% of disaster claims were locate d in FEMA 1% chance flood zones. With the prospect of more frequent and se vere storms due to a changing climate\, what can local\, state\, and the f ederal government do to better understand\, prepare for\, and minimize flo oding and flood damage?
