Bikes find new home in Wakefield

3 Nov 2012

In the hopes of helping improve the overall health and well being of its residents the town of Wakefield has recently completed the installation of new bicycle racks throughout the community.
According to Mass in Motion Grant Coordinator, Kara Showers, the town took advantage of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) regional bike parking program, which provided full reimbursement of the cost of purchasing the new racks.
Locally, the Mass in Motion Wakefield/Melrose grant covered the shipping cost and installation was completed by the Wakefield Department of Public Works.
The goal of the initiative is to promote healthy eating and active living by changing the environment in which people live, work and play.
