Data Center The Metro Data Center has built a reputation as a regional leader in data compilation, analysis and distribution. The Metro Data Center develops statistical profiles for the 101 communities, houses and analyzes 2000 Census data, provides population, household and employment forecasts, and responds to research requests. The Data Center team uses information to provide in-depth analysis of trends in the region, and conduct research projects on emerging issues that will strengthen our ability to plan for the future of our region. A wide range of data compiled by the Data Center is available on the MetroBoston DataCommon. This website is an online tool providing data about the region and each of its cities and towns. It is a resource for all those wishing to better understand how the region and its communities are changing, and help residents, planners, city and town officials, educators, and journalists explore options and make informed decisions. The website contains community profiles for all 101 cities and towns in the MAPC region, a regional map gallery, and a powerful DataMap Tool allowing visitors to create their own maps and conduct analysis. Services
The Metro Data Center offers a variety of data services to the MAPC staff, constituents of the 101 cities and towns, private and public entities, and to the general public. Most of the services are provided free of charge, such as basic data requests, as well as community profiles and forecasts that are available on this website. More in-depth data requests, particularly those involving mapping services, strategic planning and projections, are accepted on a contractual basis.
