Massachusetts Homeland Security Planning Regions and Advisory Council newsletter
MAPC helps facilitate and draft regional homeland security plans, and acts as fiduciaries in their implementation. MAPC also provides planning and facilitation services for the Northeast Homeland Security Regional Advisory Council (NERAC). Learn more about NERAC.
Background
In 2004, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) designated five Homeland Security Planning Regions and appointed a multidisciplinary and multijurisdictional Advisory Council for each region.
Council members represent all relevant public safety disciplines. These included law enforcement, fire service, emergency management, local public health, hospitals, emergency medical services (EMS), public works, transportation, corrections and local government administration.
Working with our partners at the Southeast Regional Planning and Economic Development District (SRPEDD), the Central Mass Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC), and the Franklin Council of Governments (FROG), MAPC is now the lead fiduciary for four Homeland Security Councils in the Commonwealth: Northeast Homeland Security Regional Advisory Council, Central Region Homeland Security Advisory Council, Southeast Region Homeland Security Advisory Council and the Western Massachusetts Regional Homeland Security Advisory Council.
Our statewide fiduciary contract includes Federal Fiscal Year 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 funding.
