South Shore Coalition
The South Shore Coalition promotes informed and active cooperation in planning for growth and development of the South Shore subregion. Membership comprises thirteen cities and towns:

The South Shore Coalition meets on the third Thursday of each month in Hingham, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The Coalition also organizes occasional large-scale forums on issues of regional concern, such as the Green Communities Act and Parking Strategies in Town and Village Centers.
Each member municipality can appoint two representatives on the Coalition: one member appointed by the by the Board of Selectmen or Mayor, and another appointed by the Planning Board. The current officers of the Coalition are:

What’s New:
SOUTH SHORE GREEN COMMUNITIES FORUM
15 January 2009
Over 100 South Shore residents, municipal officials, advocates, and business owners attended the January 15 South Shore Forum to hear about the Green Communities Act and to discuss opportunities for regional collaboration.
- Tim Reardon, MAPC's South Shore Coordinator presented the results of a survey of municipal energy committees and task forces on the South Shore.
- Paul Hibbard, Chairman of the Department of Public Utilities presented information on the energy pricing in Massachusetts, how it affects residents and businesses, and how the Green Communities Act relates to the energy market.
- Meg Lusardi, of the DOER Green Communities Division, described the new Green Communities Program and solicited comment on the draft guidelines for qualifying as a Green Community
Over the coming months, MAPC will continue working with South Shore energy committees and municipal officials to discuss opportunities for regional collaboration and technical support.
