South Shore Coalition (SSC)

The South Shore Coalition (SSC) promotes informed and active cooperation in planning for growth and preservation in 13 cities and towns on the South Shore:

Meetings, Membership, and Leadership

The South Shore Coalition's regularly scheduled meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, usually at Hingham Town Hall (210 Central Street).  To confirm meeting dates, location, and agenda, please contact SSC Coordinator Tim Reardon: treardon@mapc.org or 617-451-2770 x2011. 

The Coalition also organizes occasional large-scale forums on issues of regional concern, such as the Green Communities Act and Parking Strategies in Town and Village Centers.

Each member municipality can appoint two representatives on the Coalition: one member appointed by the by the Board of Selectmen or Mayor, and another appointed by the Planning Board.  Holbrook Town Administrator Mike Yunits is the current Chair of the Coalition.

April 2010 - South Shore Renewable Energy Workshops

The South Shore Coalition organized two Renewable Energy Workshops in April 2010 to discuss regulation, public education, financing, and procurement related to wind and solar energy facilities.

January 2009 - South Shore Green Communities Forum

Over 100 South Shore residents, municipal officials, advocates, and business owners attended a South Shore Forum in January 2009 to hear about the Green Communities Act and to discuss opportunities for regional collaboration.
