NSPC’s March meeting has been moved to March 19th due to snow. We will hear from Chris Kluchman about the State’s Housing Choice Initiative.
MAPC and the City of Newton are co-hosting a Community EV Charging Station workshop on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Whether you’ve already decided to purchase EV charging stations in 2018, or are just starting to think about EV charging stations for your community, this workshop will take you on a deep dive of everything to consider from procurement to installation.
Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Learn how you can participate in MAPC’s Green Mobility Group Purchasing program in 2018 and save money by buying with other public fleets;
- Engage in discussion with other municipalities considering purchases of EV charging station and learn from leaders in the region with experience installing charging stations;
- Connect with EV charging station vendors on the statewide contract and learn about the specifications of the technologies they can provide.
A more detailed agenda with workshop presenters and location will be distributed in advance of the event. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.
We will be joined by Francis Goyes, MAPC’s Regional Housing and Land Use Planner, to hear about her “Living Little” work that takes a look at smaller housing typologies and how they may be translated into the NSPC region. We’ll also be joined by Sharon Ron, MAPC’s Public Health Research Analyst to discuss what it means to plan for healthy living and healthy housing.

The City of Cambridge has begun the process of creating a Future of Mobility Implementation Blueprint to help prepare for and shape new mobility options in a way that meets our community goals, meets the mobility needs of all people who live in, work in, and visit Cambridge, and is well integrated with our sustainable transportation system. This forum is an opportunity for you to:
- learn about the role of the Local, State, and Federal government in managing AVs,
- hear from researchers who are thinking about the interactions between AVs and people, and
- engage with the people behind the technology to gain a better understanding of the state of the technology, plans for the future, and challenges.

Join us for a riveting keynote by the transportation thinker David Zipper on the interplay between urban and transportation policy and new mobility technologies, followed by an interactive panel discussion with local transportation planners, advocates, and administrators.
David Zipper is a Visiting Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Taubman Center for State and Local Government, where he focuses on the interplay between urban policy and new mobility technologies. David advises numerous startups and urban officials about the future of cities and mobility. His writing about urban innovation has been published in The Atlantic, WIRED, Slate, and Fast Company. The impact of COVID-19 on these essential services has been widespread. You are invited to a discussion dedicated to the needs of these transportation providers in the Boston region. This forum will be a space for providers to discuss, learn, and collaborate on COVID-19 responses.
