This brown bag is an opportunity for municipalities to learn about resources available through the national SolSmart program. Seven MAPC communities recently received technical assistance from a SolSmart advisor to help them streamline their solar permitting and zoning and to reduce solar soft costs in their communities. You can find out more about SolSmart by visiting: https://www.solsmart.org/

Municipal Solar Thermal Webinar: Procurement Pathways and Lessons Learned @ Online Webinar

MAPC is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, May 9, at 12:00 PM to share lessons and best practices for deploying municipal solar hot water systems.
Attendees will hear about lessons learned in the procurement process, what to expect for a solar thermal project, and new incentive structures for solar hot water, including Alternative Energy Credits (AECs) and the MassCEC rebate. We will also share our procurement templates and incentives calculator developed during MAPC’s current pilot as part of the MassCEC Solar Thermal Challenge, in partnership with Meister Consultants, a Cadmus Company.

Ride-Hailing Partnerships Forum @ MassDOT Board Room (Second Floor)

Come learn how agencies throughout the state have partnered with ride-hailing companies like Uber and Lyft to help solve their transportation problems.

This event is open to all agencies currently contracting or interested in contracting with ride-hailing companies to help meet their transportation needs; including Regional Transit Authorities, Transportation Management Associations, Councils on Aging, non-profits, and municipalities.
The forum’s speakers, who will represent agencies that have developed partnerships with ride-hailing companies, will share their experiences, participate in a roundtable discussion, and answer questions about the dos and don’ts of working with transportation network companies.
Attendees will be able to ask questions, share their own perspectives, and join in on the conversation.

The Climate Action Plan, on which the City of Newton is partnering with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), will establish community-wide climate mitigation goals and identify potential measures to achieve them. It will be an action-driven plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lay out the pathway toward a sustainable, resilient, and healthy community for all.

Join the City of Cambridge, MAPC, our partners, and other members of the public for a forum on autonomous vehicles (AVs).

Pre-registration is appreciated, but not required.

The City of Cambridge has begun the process of creating a Future of Mobility Implementation Blueprint to help prepare for and shape new mobility options in a way that meets our community goals, meets the mobility needs of all people who live in, work in, and visit Cambridge, and is well integrated with our sustainable transportation system. This forum is an opportunity for you to:

  • learn about the role of the Local, State, and Federal government in managing AVs,
  • hear from researchers who are thinking about the interactions between AVs and people, and
  • engage with the people behind the technology to gain a better understanding of the state of the technology, plans for the future, and challenges.
