Biography:

Austin Murray joined MAPC’s Homeland Security Division in December 2017 as the Grants Management Coordinator for the Northeast Homeland Security Regional Advisory Council (NERAC). Murray works to support the vision of the Northeast Council by managing grant-funded projects and researching industry standards and vendor qualifications for equipment and services prior to procurement. He additionally manages the social media and website content for NERAC by keeping those outlets up-to-date with homeland security and emergency preparedness resources for first respondents and the general public.

Before MAPC, Murray gained experience in municipal collaboration in Connecticut through his work with the Town of Mansfield’s Resident State Trooper’s Office and Social Services Department. In those roles he managed state and federal grant applications, assisted the Interim Town Manager in an analysis of police services, and coordinated emergency preparedness between municipal, state, and university stakeholders. He also spent time as an intern with the Town of Newington’s Board of Education Transportation Department, providing office support and assisting in the coordination of transportation for over 4,000 students.

Austin earned a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Connecticut and also a Bachelor’s Degree in English and History.
