Biography:
Colleen Shortell joined MAPC in 2024 as a Clean Energy and Climate Planning Intern. As part of the Clean Energy Department, she assists municipalities with net zero and resilience planning, extreme heat mitigation, and Green Communities designation.
Prior to joining MAPC, Colleen worked as a Resiliency Planning Intern at the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission where she participated in drafting a Climate Pollution Reduction Grant and several municipal Hazard Mitigation Plans.
Colleen is currently pursuing an MS in Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University. She holds a BA in International Studies and Sociology from the College of the Holy Cross.
During her time at Tufts, Colleen completed an exploratory report on the feasibility of implementing a microgrid in the Town of Westwood, which will be included in the Town’s Climate Action, Resiliency, and Sustainability Plan. She engaged with various stakeholders to analyze microgrid best practices that may inform the implementation process in Westwood.
