Community Engagement Specialist
Iolando joined the Metropolitan Area Planning Council full-time in 2018 as a Community Engagement Specialist. As a Community Engagement Specialist, Iolando supports local and regional projects that engage community groups, coalitions, local officials, and businesses.
Iolando engages and connects with people and groups throughout the MAPC region to support community planning efforts. As part of the Community Engagement team, Iolando helps inform, empower, and assist regional stakeholders. The team supports efforts to remove local and state-level policy barriers, create incentives for smart growth, and advance regional equity.
Prior to joining MAPC, Iolando was a Graduate Fellow at North Shore CDC and Catholic Charities in Salem, Massachusetts. From 2016 to 2018, he worked as Post-Secondary Success Coordinator for Crossroads, a youth empowerment organization. From 2013 to 2015, he worked as an Outreach Speaker and Facilitator for We Charities in Seattle, Washington. Iolando has also worked as teaching associate in New Bedford Massachusetts for Citizen Schools.
Iolando graduated from Merrimack College in 2018 with a Master of Education in Community Engagement. Iolando received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Geography and Political Science from Bridgewater State University in 2012.
