Arts & Culture Intern
Sam joined MAPC as an Arts & Culture Intern in the fall of 2018. He assists the Arts & Culture team with projects that promote cultural planning, creative placemaking, and creative community development.
Previously, Sam has worked in art and media production as a project manager for A to Z Media. Prior to that, he worked in community outreach for the historic non-profit Hollywood Theatre in Portland, Oregon, and as a manager and show coordinator for Discourage Records. He’s worked as a volunteer with Portland organizations Hacienda and SMART Reading.
Sam plans to apply his interest in cultural planning toward championing equitable solutions to creative community development. In his free time, he operates a record label, Lobby Art and performs music under the moniker Poster Moves.
Sam completed a bachelor’s degree in sociology/anthropology from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Urban and Environmental Planning & Policy from Tufts University.
