Biography:
Michael Pearce joined MAPC in September 2023 as the Municipal Collaboration Department’s Municipal Services Specialist. Michael works with municipal partners and stakeholders on a wide variety of projects, grants, studies, and cooperative purchases, including MAPC’s portfolio of digital equity projects.
Prior to joining MAPC, Michael was Deputy Chief of Staff for City of San Jose Councilmember Maya Esparza. Michael managed the Council Office’s policy and legislative agenda, working with community stakeholders to deliver a variety of municipal policies and projects with a focus on bringing equitable outcomes to historically marginalized and under-resourced communities in the heart of Silicon Valley. These included San Jose’s Digital Equity and Community Wi-Fi programs, the Vision Zero San Jose traffic safety initiative, the Anderson Dam Seismic Retrofit and Coyote Creek Flood Protection projects, the City’s Covid-19 response, as well as policies to strengthen protections for workers, renters, and other vulnerable populations.
Michael graduated from Stanford University with a BA in History.
