MAPC issues statement on proposed delayed enforcement of federal fair housing rules
Marc D. Draisen, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) in Boston, today released the following statement:
“MAPC is extremely concerned by last week’s announcement that the Trump Administration is delaying enforcement of a federal fair housing rule designed to combat residential segregation.
In suspending the requirement that communities across the United States proactively develop plans to address patterns of residential segregation, HUD rolls back years of advocacy and progress toward ensuring everyone has fair and equitable access to safe, affordable housing.
MAPC strongly urges President Trump and HUD Secretary Ben Carson to recommit to addressing racial inequality in housing by reaffirming the 2015 fair housing rule, and by supporting local governments as they work to fight discrimination and increase access to housing opportunity for all.”
