Marblehead Sustainable Heritage

Integrating Historic Preservation with Clean Energy

Illustration of the Moses Pickett House. A light brown home with a black door and two rows of numerous windows, a gray roof, and red chimney. There is a round, yellow sun behind the left side of the house. Text under the house says, "Marblehead Sustainable Heritage".

The Town of Marblehead seeks to develop guidelines for approving clean energy interventions to historic buildings that are under the jurisdiction of the Town’s Old and Historic Districts.

This project's main objective is to provide a balanced approach that integrates environmental sustainability with the preservation of the town's architectural heritage. To achieve this, the project will focus on developing practical and context-sensitive recommendations that align with the town's preservation goals and architectural heritage. The anticipated impact of these guidelines includes enhanced energy efficiency, reduced carbon footprint, and the preservation of Marblehead's unique historical character for future generations.

There will be opportunities for community members to be part of developing the plan. Sign up below to be the first to hear about opportunities to get involved!
