Project Background
In February 2012, MAPC selected the City of Marlborough through a competitive application process, to participate in MAPC’s Local Energy Action Program. MAPC met with city officials to understand the community’s priorities and interests in energy, sustainability, and community and economic development issues.
Programs & Initiatives
The Marlborough LEAP work focused on identifying opportunties to advance clean energy action through energy curriculum in the schools. MAPC developed a Energy Curriculum in Schools Guide to help the City and school staff integrate clean energy education into the school curricula to educate students on clean energy science, actions, and policies. This guide highlights strategies that have proven to be both cost-effective to implement and successful in improving knowledge and awareness of clean energy issues, as well as local examples in the Commonwealth that have proven successful in integrating energy into intermediate education.
