Biography:
Austin Knipper joined MAPC in 2025 as a Senior Economic Development Planner, where he works on projects that bring good jobs and worker power to the Boston region. Austin leads the project evaluation for the Good Jobs Metro Boston Coalition and otherwise supports the implementation of MAPC’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy.
Before joining MAPC, Austin served as an Economist in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Labor, where he centered issues of job quality in evaluations of workforce development programs. Previously, Austin was an Economist in the Office of Disability Employment Policy, where he supported initiatives that helped recently disabled workers return to work and ensured apprenticeships were inclusive. Earlier, Austin was an Economist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, where he worked on the field operations of national surveys that yield principal federal macroeconomic indicators and was detailed to the Office of the Commissioner.
Mr. Knipper holds a Master’s in Data Analytics and Policy from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor’s in Economics and Political Science from the University of Florida.
