Biography:
Georgia Barlow joined MAPC in 2022 and currently serves as a Senior Government Affairs Specialist. She works to center equity in her policy portfolio that includes transportation, public health, municipal finance, and environmental disaster preparedness. She is currently the MAGIC subregional coordinator, serves as a Municipal Immigrant Support Network convener, and works closely with the North Shore Coalition, Metro Mayors Coalition, and MARPA.
Prior to joining MAPC, Georgia was a Research and Policy Analyst at the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice in Louisiana, where she worked to advance racial equity through legislative advocacy. Georgia has a background in emergency preparedness and disaster response and is passionate about weaving climate resilience strategies into her work.
Georgia has undergraduate degrees in Political Science and International Development and an MPH with a concentration in Environmental Disaster Management, both from Tulane University in New Orleans. She serves on the Board of Life and Hope Haiti and is an active volunteer and advisor for a number of voting rights advocacy organizations.
