Biography:
Rachel Bowers joined MAPC’s Data Services Department in 2022 to work as a Regional Planning Data Analyst focusing on climate change. As part of the Analytical Services team, she works with MAPC departments to conduct data analysis and mapping used by Metro Boston’s communities to reduce their carbon footprint, prepare for a changing climate, and advance other regional goals.
Before joining MAPC, she worked as a Planner at Sasaki, where she worked on data visualization and storytelling, planning analysis, and stakeholder engagement for public, private, and institutional master plans. During her time at Tufts, she interned for the City of Cambridge’s Community Development Department and served as a GIS intern for the City of Newark, NJ, developing maps for an environmental justice project.
Rachel holds a Master of Arts in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University, where she wrote her Master’s Thesis on the use of GIS to explore the equity implications of Green Stormwater Infrastructure planning. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Technology from University of Maryland.
