Biography:

Rachel Weil joined MAPC in 2024 as a Public Health & Food Systems Planner II. Her role focuses on increasing food security and health equity through planning, policy and partnership building. She strives to make sure her work is centered in community in pursuit of more equitable and resilient food systems.

Prior to MAPC, Rachel worked for the Greater Boston Food Bank fostering community partnerships, leading research, and implementing food access programming across Eastern Massachusetts. She also managed Project SOUP, a food pantry in Somerville, where she expanded the reach of the pantry by providing fresh produce and choice to the community. Her career began in federal environmental policy analysis at Industrial Economics.

Rachel received dual Masters degrees in Urban & Regional Planning and Agroecology from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. During graduate school, she conducted a participatory research study with small scale vegetable farms around labor. Rachel also holds a B.A. in Environmental Analysis & Policy and Hispanic Languages and Literatures from Boston University. She speaks Spanish.
