‘Housing Production Plan’ will identify housing need & demand, establish goals for future housing development
Stoneham – Do you live in Stoneham? Are you interested in helping to shape a vision for housing in your community?
Join the Town of Stoneham and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) for a public forum on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium, 35 Central St. in Stoneham.
Stoneham is working with MAPC to take a proactive approach to planning for the future of the community by creating a Housing Production Plan (HPP). Join MAPC and Stoneham for this first public forum, an interactive event focused on understanding the town’s current demographics and existing housing supply, and housing need and demand now and in the future.
The public’s input is needed to create housing priorities and goals for the next five years, and to talk about the best locations for housing around town. Additional discussion topics will include affordability information – Who can afford to live here? Who is having a hard time paying for housing? – as well as what constitutes affordable housing and who qualifies to live in it.
The event will also be kid-friendly and children are encouraged to attend! Project leaders will have a kids table and a simultaneous children’s event with assistance from the Stoneham Recreation Department. There’s no need to register in advance.
There will also be a “Housing Production Plan station” at the Senior Center on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Members of the public, and anyone who can’t make the January forum, are invited to stop by to check it out and give the project team feedback.
