MAPC’s Katherine Antos to join the Healey-Driscoll Administration’s Executive Office of Energy & Environmental Affairs
Antos, energy and environmental policy expert, to lead decarbonization and resilience for the Commonwealth
BOSTON – March 23, 2023 – Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy & Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Rebecca L. Tepper announced her leadership team today that will help shape the Commonwealth’s clean energy economy, environmental protections, and public lands. The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) congratulates Katherine Antos, our deputy executive director for planning & sustainability, on being selected to serve as EEA’s undersecretary of decarbonization & resilience.
“We can’t wait to see how Katherine builds on her time at MAPC to affect important changes at the state level,” said MAPC Executive Director Marc Draisen. “I know she’s going to accomplish great things, and we look forward to working with her, Secretary Tepper, and the rest of the EEA team.”
Antos oversaw the Clean Energy, Environment, Land Use, Transportation, and Arts & Culture Departments at MAPC, coordinating plans, technical assistance, and initiatives that advance a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient Greater Boston region. She has worked and partnered with cities, towns, state agencies, and other stakeholders to advance the goals of the region’s land use and policy plan, MetroCommon2050. “I know we’ll have another advocate to for MetroCommon in the new Administration,” Draisen added.
“We so look forward to continue working with Katherine in her new role and seeing her turn plans into action,” said MAPC Deputy Executive Director of Public Affairs & Advocacy Lizzi Weyant. “She’s such a strong advocate and will have a progressive impact on some of the most important issues facing our region.”
Antos begins her new role on March 27, and as the undersecretary of decarbonization & resilience, she will integrate EEA's climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts in response to the climate crisis. She will also oversee implementation of the Clean Energy and Climate Plan, the Commonwealth's roadmap to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and efforts to prepare for and increase resilience to climate change impacts.
