The Metropolitan Area Planning Council and the Metro Mayors Coalition welcome Shannon-funded partners and others from across the State to discuss best practices and emerging trends in youth gang and violence prevention. Registration is required and will close on 12/5.
The Summit will include a keynote by Thomas Abt, a senior research fellow with the Center for International Development at Harvard University and author of “Bleeding Out: The Devastating Consequences of Urban Violence–and a Bold New Plan for Peace in the Streets.”
Breakout sessions will include a law enforcement roundtable discussion and discussion of the benefits of arts-based programming for at-risk youth.
An afternoon panel will discuss best practices for building and sustaining relationships between law enforcement and youth.
MAPC’s Zoning Atlas, a data product years in the making, makes zoning information for all 101 of the region’s cities and towns available to the public. We invite you to join us to learn more about how to explore, use, and provide feedback on the data, and to hear more about why transparent municipal zoning information is a critical resource for the future of Greater Boston

- Keynote address by Henry Grabar; Slate staff writer, author (Paved Paradise: How Parking Explains the World), and a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard School of Design
- Panel of municipal planners will discuss how they are taking on the issue of the “perfect parking space”, and advancing sustainable and equitable housing and transportation options.
As cities and towns work to comply with the MBTA Communities Act, this event will focus on how to “right-size” parking for your community while managing this political issue and promoting healthy neighborhoods that are economically vibrant, equitable, and sustainable by design.
