MAPC is working with Meister Consultants Group on a pilot Solar Thermal program with MassCEC. We are working with Chelsea, Winthrop, Concord and Quincy to develop procurements for solar thermal installations on municipal buildings. This webinar is an opportunity for municipalities to learn more about this program and the incentives available for solar thermal systems.

MAPC and the City of Newton are co-hosting a Community EV Charging Station workshop on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Whether you’ve already decided to purchase EV charging stations in 2018, or are just starting to think about EV charging stations for your community, this workshop will take you on a deep dive of everything to consider from procurement to installation.
Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Learn how you can participate in MAPC’s Green Mobility Group Purchasing program in 2018 and save money by buying with other public fleets;
- Engage in discussion with other municipalities considering purchases of EV charging station and learn from leaders in the region with experience installing charging stations;
- Connect with EV charging station vendors on the statewide contract and learn about the specifications of the technologies they can provide.
A more detailed agenda with workshop presenters and location will be distributed in advance of the event. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

The Climate Action Plan, on which the City of Newton is partnering with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), will establish community-wide climate mitigation goals and identify potential measures to achieve them. It will be an action-driven plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lay out the pathway toward a sustainable, resilient, and healthy community for all.

The next deadline for the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) voting cycle is coming up on September 23rd and we want to make sure you have the tools and information you need to complete your voter validation and to get ready for the vote itself. MAPC is working to make our building code better for the climate, healthy and safe for the people living and working in buildings, and more energy-efficient. Buildings account for approximately one-third of our GHG emissions as a state. By constructing and retrofitting these structures in a more energy-efficient manner, we will not only improve our climate, but also enhance the quality of life of our residents. Webinar: Stretch Code Proposals Info Session for Municipal Stakeholders
Wednesday, March 2, 2022 | 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
We will be joined by staff from the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) to talk through the integral components of the two straw proposals DOER announced on March 8, 2022. The first proposal is to update the existing Stretch Code, already adopted by 299 municipalities in Massachusetts, and the second is a proposal for a new municipal specialized opt-in “net zero” code, which municipalities will have the option to adopt starting in December 2022.
MAPC’s Clean Energy Department is hosting its first webinar in a series about what centering equity in municipal-level clean energy and climate planning and implementation can look like. This first event will provide an introduction to equity in climate planning, followed by presentations and a panel discussion with three guest speakers who have worked on equitable climate planning in their municipalities:
• Emily Koo, Director of Sustainability, City of Providence
• Shayna Hirshfield-Gold, Climate Program Manager, City of Oakland
• Ibrahim Lopez-Hernandez, Sustainability Manager, City of Chelsea and Revere, Town of Winthrop
There will then be an opportunity for Q&A with attendees.
