On behalf of the Metropolitan Mayors Coalition, the Metropolitan Area Planning Council invites you to attend a forum on Information Sharing.
This forum intends to bring together municipal leaders – including mayors, manager, public health officials, and public safety officials – alongside leaders from hospitals and health care centers in the region.

Community Meeting – HIA of the Proposed Compressor Station (Weymouth, MA) @ Abigail Adams Middle School

Join us as we initiate a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) on a proposed natural gas compressor station in the Town of Weymouth.
The community meeting will include an open house with a brief presentation for participants to familiarize themselves with the HIA process and the proposed decision, as well as space for discussion and public input about potential health effects and concerns related to the proposed station.
What is a Health Impact Assessment?

A Health Impact Assessment (HIA) is a process that uses available data, health expertise, and public input to identify the possible health effects of a proposed change. HIAs are used to assess proposals, such as development projects or legislative policies, to produce recommendations that optimize health outcomes.

MAPC is releasing new research that analyzed 27,000 flood claims from the historic March 2010 storms that dropped 18 inches of rain across Eastern Massachusetts. $59m in disaster assistance was paid out. We found that only 4% of disaster claims were located in FEMA 1% chance flood zones. With the prospect of more frequent and severe storms due to a changing climate, what can local, state, and the federal government do to better understand, prepare for, and minimize flooding and flood damage?
