Plug-in to Municipal Best Practices: Community EV Charging Station Workshop @ Education Center, Durant-Kenrick House and Grounds | Newton | Massachusetts | United States

MAPC and the City of Newton are co-hosting a Community EV Charging Station workshop on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Whether you’ve already decided to purchase EV charging stations in 2018, or are just starting to think about EV charging stations for your community, this workshop will take you on a deep dive of everything to consider from procurement to installation.

Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn how you can participate in MAPC’s Green Mobility Group Purchasing program in 2018 and save money by buying with other public fleets;
  • Engage in discussion with other municipalities considering purchases of EV charging station and learn from leaders in the region with experience installing charging stations;
  • Connect with EV charging station vendors on the statewide contract and learn about the specifications of the technologies they can provide.

A more detailed agenda with workshop presenters and location will be distributed in advance of the event. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

Envision Duxbury: Final Community Forum @ Duxbury Free Library, Merry Room

DUXBURY – Do you live in Duxbury? Are you interested in helping to craft a vision for the community’s future? Now is your chance to weigh in on the town’s draft master plan!

Join us for a public forum on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in the Merry Room of the Duxbury Free Library, located at 77 Alden St., to help put the finishing touches on the town’s next master plan, “Envision Duxbury.” The event will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is free and open to all.

Envision Duxbury is a comprehensive master plan being developed to guide the future stewardship and economic development of the town, using goals and ideas generated by local community members.

Thousands of residents have offered input via survey, text message, and at public meetings since late 2017 when the project kicked off. The plan has been a collaborative effort of the Duxbury Planning Board, town Planning Director, and a group of dedicated local “Master Plan Ambassadors” have been working with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) in Boston. MAPC is the regional planning agency serving Duxbury and 100 other cities and towns across Greater Boston.

During the course of the Envision Duxbury process, residents of all ages, business owners, elected and appointed representatives, and others in town have had the chance to weigh in on important issues facing Duxbury, including housing, arts & culture, open space, recreation, sustainability, development, transportation, infrastructure, and zoning. This last community meeting will bring together the goals and strategies for each element of the master plan so the public can give feedback and share their priorities before the final plan is compiled and refined. Once community input is synthesized and the top priorities emerge, planners will share a final document this spring with a full draft plan expected by June.

MARPA-DLS – Statewide Conference for Municipal Officials and Staff @ College of the Holy Cross Hogan Campus Center

Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito and members from all the Massachusetts Regional Planning Agencies (MARPA) welcome you to join them at the 2019 Annual Statewide Conference for Municipal Officials and Staff, co-hosted by the Division of Local Services. The event titled “21st Century Municipalities – Challenges & Opportunities” will be hosted at Holy Cross College on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.
Attendees will hear from Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito in the morning, as well as a panel discussing the clear economic benefits of communities adapting to the fast-paced changes prevalent in modern municipal management.
We will then break into sessions focused on Community Compact Best Practice areas so you can learn from your colleagues around the Commonwealth.
