DUXBURY – Do you live in Duxbury? Are you interested in helping to craft a vision for the community’s future? Now is your chance to weigh in on the town’s draft master plan!
Join us for a public forum on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in the Merry Room of the Duxbury Free Library, located at 77 Alden St., to help put the finishing touches on the town’s next master plan, “Envision Duxbury.” The event will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is free and open to all.

Envision Duxbury is a comprehensive master plan being developed to guide the future stewardship and economic development of the town, using goals and ideas generated by local community members.
Thousands of residents have offered input via survey, text message, and at public meetings since late 2017 when the project kicked off. The plan has been a collaborative effort of the Duxbury Planning Board, town Planning Director, and a group of dedicated local “Master Plan Ambassadors” have been working with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) in Boston. MAPC is the regional planning agency serving Duxbury and 100 other cities and towns across Greater Boston.
During the course of the Envision Duxbury process, residents of all ages, business owners, elected and appointed representatives, and others in town have had the chance to weigh in on important issues facing Duxbury, including housing, arts & culture, open space, recreation, sustainability, development, transportation, infrastructure, and zoning. This last community meeting will bring together the goals and strategies for each element of the master plan so the public can give feedback and share their priorities before the final plan is compiled and refined. Once community input is synthesized and the top priorities emerge, planners will share a final document this spring with a full draft plan expected by June.

What role can artists and public art play in helping us imagine and shape more inclusive, thriving public spaces throughout Greater Boston? Join a lively discussion among artists, activists, and urbanists who are leading the conversation about spatial justice in our region today.
How can public-making—the collective creation and activation of public spaces for interaction and belonging—be a radical, joyful tool for spatial justice? Join artists, activists, and community leaders to discuss how public-making can create opportunities for interaction, laughter, dialogue, and surprise, and explore real-life examples of public-making that you can bring to your community.
Not all public spaces are created equal. Transformative planning and urban design begins with addressing historic and current experiences of racism and exclusion. But what does that mean in practice? Join the conversation with creative community leaders about what it means to design for spatial justice. We’ll explore how skate parks, sidewalk kitchens, and “dance courts” can change how public space is used, who feels welcome in it, and how inclusive creative placemaking can help lead the way toward lasting spatial justice.
Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll invites you to the 2023 Statewide Municipal Partnerships Conference for municipal officials and staff, co-hosted by the Massachusetts Regional Planning Agencies (MARPA) and Division of Local Services. The event will be held at the College of the Holy Cross on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023.
Lt. Governor Driscoll and a panel of Cabinet members, to be announced, will kick off the morning. We will then break into sessions focused on a wide array of issues and opportunities facing the Commonwealth, facilitated by subject matter experts from across Massachusetts. The breakout sessions will include:
- Climate Resiliency and Climate Action Plans;
- Building Livable Communities;
- Post-Pandemic Public Health; and
- Rural Empowerment
- Federal Funding Opportunities
The attendance fee is $20 and can be paid upon registering via PayPal / credit card. Checks can be mailed to the Metropolitan Area Planning Council. Only checks will be accepted for attendance payment if you wish to pay day of at check-in.

The Lex250 Commission invites community members to hear directly from four artists chosen to develop concepts for a monument to honor the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington in Belfry Hill. This is a hybrid event. Community members are invited to attend in person or virtually via Zoom. Artists will present their concepts for the Lex250 Monument virtually and there will be a time for Q&A with the artists following artist presentations.
