The Central Transportation Planning Staff to the Boston MPO is hosting an upcoming discussion on resilience in transportation planning at next week’s Regional Transportation Advisory Council meeting on May 10, from 2:30-4:05 PM. The Advisory Council is an independent public body that meets monthly to discuss transportation topics in the Boston region and help direct the Boston MPO’s work by advising staff and voting on the MPO board.
Staff will be discussing the MPO’s environmental and resilience work, and will welcome feedback on goals and ideas for the resilience program and priorities for incorporating resilience and climate adaptation into transportation planning.
You can find a Zoom link for the 5/10 Advisory Council meeting on the MPO Calendar, where a detailed agenda and more materials will be posted shortly.

MAPC will be releasing research examining the prevalence, characteristics, and spatial patterns of residential property speculation in Greater Boston. Our research finds that low-income urban communities of color experience the highest rates of speculative investor activity. Investors are often able to buy properties at a discount using cash, and they are also more likely than non-investors to flip their properties and to make a significantly higher profit on flipped properties than non-investors.
Our November 30 webinar will feature a presentation of this research and a panel discussion.
Guest panelists will include:
▪ Angie Liou, Executive Director, Asian Community Development Corporation
▪ Brian An, PhD, Director, Master of Science in Public Policy Program, Georgia Institute of Technology
▪ Tim Reardon, Chief of Data and Research, Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities
▪ Katie McCann, Rent Control Campaign Coordinator, City Life/Vida Urbana
This event is now full. However, you can still join the waiting list, and if a spot opens up between now and the date of the event and you are next on the waiting list, we will contact you by email. Thank you!
